In order to ensure access to a professional
and dynamic career, the École nationale de police du Québec
offers four training programs as well as advanced and in-service
training to Québec First Nations police clientele.
Patrol Officer Training Program
In accordance with the
Police Act (R.S.Q., c. P-13.1) and in order to obtain a working
permit in policing, the candidates that have graduated from the
Police Techniques Program must further their training at the École
nationale de police du Québec.
The initial Patrol Officer Training Program focuses on the development of the professional competencies that are considered essential to the job of policing. The fundamental goal of its learning activities is to allow the integration of the knowledge, the abilities and the attitudes deemed necessary to the job of policing. The training program is thirteen weeks in duration.
The existing program is now being revised. Consequently, its content, its duration and the costs attached may be modified without notice.
Special Constable Native Training Program
The twelve-week Special Constable Program is given at the École nationale de police du Québec. This training prepares the candidates to adequately intervene in police matters within their community. Graduates from this program may be appointed, by the Minister, as peace officers for a specific term and within the limits set out in their deed of appointment.
