Basic Training Program
The Police Act also gives the exclusive responsibility to provide the basic training that gives access to police management functions. Previously, numerous management training proposals would reach police officers without any national coaching nor harmonization.
Work situation analyses (WSA) of police management functions (first-line supervisor - patrolling, investigation office manager and director) were used for the program development whose objectives are to train police officers in management according to the human resources development plan of their organization by developing themselves the required skills according to the level of management they hold.
This training program will possibly be a component of another
project, which is the Bachelor in Public Security, in collaboration
with the Université du Québec in Trois-Rivières. It will include
a package course in front-line management (patrolling / investigation
office management) and another package in middle management: both
series of courses will give access to the last package in police
force management.
