This course is designed to help students better understand diversity, the importance of respect and dignity for all people, and how to demonstrate inclusion and respect for all people no matter their identity.

Particularity

This course was developed by an ENPQ partner. Therefore, the pedagogical approach and content are not subject to ENPQ standards and practices.

Registration is possible at any time during a session. Students will receive their access within a maximum of one week. They must complete the course before the end of the session in progress. At the end of the session, students who have completed the course will receive an “A” on their transcript indicating that they have taken the course.

 

Content

Gender identities encompassed in the acronym 2SLGBTQ+ – Components of human identity – Impact of histories and major global events associated with the 2SLGBTQ+ community – Transgender identities and 2SLGBTQ+ terminology – Implicit bias and how heteronormativity is reflected in our implicit bias – Steps for facilitating change within the public safety sector – Barriers faced by 2SLGBTQ+ people in accessing public safety services – Ways in which 2SLGBTQ+ people are victimized based on their sexual orientation, and ways that we can prevent revictimization

Fees are set by the Canadian Police Knowledge Network. Should the fees change, ENPQ will adjust the training fees accordingly.

Billing will be on a monthly basis and will be based on the number of registrations and whether or not students have accessed the course.
