This course aims to provide students with the required knowledge to handle situations involving people with disturbed
mental state. More specifically, this course will enable students to better understand people experiencing episodes of disturbed mental state, rapidly identify disturbing signs, integrate de-escalation into defensive and tactical principles, and orient their intervention towards a peaceful resolution of a situation (using the de-escalation technique).

Online course over a maximum of eight weeks on the digital learning environment (Moodle).
Recommended instructional approach: onlineself-learning activity on Moodle to foster knowledge acquisition; forum for sharing and exchanging; facilitation by a tutor to develop the analysis of a situation and the ability to apply the concepts learned in the course; quizzes and a final exam to validate understanding of the course concepts.
